Stories that change the world, powered by purpose
Publish Matters was founded in 2018 by a collective of social entrepreneurs, environmentalists, and educators who were frustrated with traditional publishing. They saw powerful stories being told by activists, nonprofit leaders, and change-makers—stories with the potential to transform communities—yet these voices couldn't find traditional publishers willing to take the risk.
We started with a simple belief: the most important stories shouldn't be gatekept by profit margins. Stories about climate justice, educational equity, mental health, human rights, and community resilience needed platforms. And the people telling those stories deserved professional support, not corporate indifference.
Our founding authors were environmental activists, social entrepreneurs, and educators. Today, we've published over 240 cause-driven books that have reached nearly 90,000 readers and inspired measurable change in communities worldwide.
Every book we publish is evaluated for its potential to create positive change. We measure success not just in sales, but in lives touched and communities transformed.
We treat authors as collaborators, not clients. Your mission is our mission. We succeed when your voice reaches the people who need to hear it most.
We preserve the authentic voice and perspective of every author. Our editing and design strengthen your message, never dilute it.
We believe in open communication about our process, our challenges, and our impact. You deserve to know exactly how your book reaches readers.
Impact without craft is just noise. We combine powerful storytelling with professional publishing standards to create books that matter and books that sell.
We practice what we publish. Our operations are carbon-neutral, our supply chains are ethical, and our profits support social causes.
